Manager, Occupational Health and Safety

Kemira is looking for an experienced Manager, Occupational Health & Safety for our Global EHSQ organization.  The principle role will be to develop, train, support, and review Occupational Health and Chemical Safety issues in Kemira Globally, with a specific focus in the Americas. You will report to the VP EHSQ, and will be located in our Atlanta (Parkwood) office. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ongoing knowledge of existing and new Regional (Americas) legislation and regulation in the area of expertise, occupational health and chemical safety and best industry practices
  • Act as a center of expertise in the area of competence
  • Develop programs related to occupational health and chemical safety requirements based on existing regional legislation and best industry practices
  • Support initiatives for regional implementation and compliance monitoring
  • Development, support and review EHSQ risk assessment tools and processes for chemical operations
  • Support established global peers in their respective regions when needed (Europe and Asia/Pacific)
  • Co-operation and alignment with activities and processes within Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) Department
  • Audit EHSQ elements, and provide support to sites for general EHSQ questions
  • Liaise with and influence for relevant internal/external stakeholders and advocate EHSQ mindset across the organization

What you need: 

  • B.S. degree in occupational health/chemical safety (or equivalent), M.S. Preferred, IH Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years professional hands-on OHS experience in the chemical industry
  • Occupational health and chemical safety risk management skills
  • Motivation and energy to deliver and improve OHS performance through open and effective communication
  • Ability to coordinate, lead, coach, and motive people in a global matrix organization
  • Ability to demonstrate and promote teamwork and alignment across the EHSQ Global Organization
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English, additional language skills beneficial
  • Readiness and ability to travel extensively
